THE ADVENTURE SEEKER - Make More Room for Adventure in Northern California
Build a veterinary career that leaves room to explore.
You love veterinary medicine. You also want the freedom to disappear for a while.
Maybe that means spending weeks abroad, heading into the mountains, returning home to another country, pursuing a passion project or simply having extended time that belongs entirely to you.
You may have chosen relief work because a traditional veterinary schedule couldn't give you that freedom.
At Vetco Total Care, select Northern California opportunities are designed to offer something different: the stability and benefits of employment with up to eight weeks of planned paid time away each year.
Take the time. Keep the career.
Imagine building extended time away into your year instead of piecing it together between relief shifts.
For select Adventure Seeker opportunities, your compensation can be structured around 10 months of active work with up to eight weeks of planned paid time away, while your prorated annual salary continues to be paid throughout the year.
That means you can plan for the adventure and your income before you go.
Work hard. Then really get away.
During your active working months, you'll follow a regular veterinarian schedule, typically a 9-hour, 5/4 schedule.
Then, after at least six months of employment, you can begin using your planned extended time away.
Your eight weeks don't have to mean one eight-week trip. Depending on hospital needs and advance planning, your time can be structured around the extended experiences and commitments that matter to you.
And because life doesn't stop during your working months, reasonable additional time-off requests can still be considered.
Take your learning somewhere new.
Sometimes the best professional development happens beyond your everyday environment.
Select Adventure Seeker opportunities can include Destination CE expense reimbursement, creating an opportunity to combine continuing education with a destination you want to experience.
Learn something new. See somewhere new. Bring both experiences back with you.
Have commitments beyond the U.S.?
For some veterinarians, extended international travel isn't simply a vacation. It may mean returning home, spending meaningful time with loved ones abroad or maintaining commitments in another country.
For qualified candidates, VTC is also willing to explore international sponsorship opportunities, subject to eligibility and applicable immigration requirements.
Your life can span more than one place. Your career can make room for that.
Get flexibility without giving up stability.
Relief work can provide tremendous freedom, but you may want more predictability around compensation, benefits and your longer-term career.
The Adventure Seeker opportunity is designed to bring those worlds closer together.
Along with extended planned time away, eligible full-time VTC veterinarians can access comprehensive Total Rewards while practicing with no non-compete, no negative accrual or pro-sal, and no on-call or overnight shifts.
Your career shouldn't keep your life on hold.
