Traci D., Area Operations Manager for Vetco Total Care general practice hospitals, is a perfect example of what's possible when you're willing to embrace new opportunities and continue growing throughout your career.
"I began my career at Petco as an Assistant Store Manager and was promoted to Store General Manager. When the third Vetco Total Care hospital opened in my state, I became a Hospital Operations Manager, bringing my management experience to help grow that location and build a great team. From there, I supported new hospital openings by training partners, preparing new locations for launch, and helping each hospital successfully open its doors on Day One. Most recently, I took on the role of Area Operations Manager, where I oversee multiple Vetco Total Care hospitals across two states. I love that I get to support multiple hospital teams and visit different locations throughout the week!"

As an Area Operations Manager, Traci knows that exceptional veterinary care begins with supporting the people who provide it every day. By making sure her hospital teams have the tools, resources and guidance they need, she's helping create an environment where both pets and people thrive.
"I make a difference by caring for the teams who care for pets every day. I make sure my hospital staff have the information, resources and guidance they need to be successful. When they feel supported, they're able to focus on giving pets the best care possible. I'm grateful to be a part of that."

For Traci, leadership is about investing in others. While her roles have evolved over the years, her favorite part of the job has always remained the same: helping people succeed.
"I've been given opportunities to grow throughout my career and have always had the support to take the next step. I enjoy working with people and teams, sharing my experiences and knowledge, and helping others grow. It's rewarding to know that what I've learned throughout my career has helped others be successful while caring for pets."
One of the biggest advantages of working at Petco has been the ability to grow her career while adapting to life's changes. After relocating from Texas to Nevada, Traci was able to continue building her career without starting over.
"With Petco having locations across the country, I've had the opportunity to transfer as life changed. It's a huge advantage to work for a company with hospitals nationwide that supports you if you need to relocate."
